Yesterday, the Travelers Championship gave back to military families through a program called Operation Shower. Hosted at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Conn., this was the third year the charity has held baby showers to ease the stress of deployment on expectant moms. Forty moms in total — most hailing from Groton Sub Base — were presented with “shower in a box,” which comes fully stocked with everything from diaper bags to onesies.
Hilaria Thomas Baldwin [pictured below], a correspondent for Extra TV and the wife of actor Alec Baldwin, served as master of ceremonies. The couple is expecting their first child together in a few months.
The event was made possible by Carousel Designs and Travelers Championship.
The program, which was originally started by LeAnn Morrissey when she was looking for a way to give back to the military, works in tandem with the military outreach program “Birdies For The Brave.” Since its conception in 2007 the organization has served about 1,400 military moms.
