Bryant University Women’s Summit 2014 Recap

On March 14, 2014, the 17th annual Women’s Summit was held at Bryant University in Smithfield, RI. More than 1,000 women participated in the event that featured keynote speakers Carley Roney, co-founder of The Knot; Carey Lohrenz, the first woman F-10 Tomcat fighter pilot in the U.S. Navy; and Viola Davis, award-winning actress. This year’s theme was “Be the CEO of Your Own Life!” and Alex and Ani was proud to be a silver sponsor.

The purpose of the Women’s Summit is to be a resource for women to learn innovative tools and strategies, hear empowering speakers, and network with a dynamic group of women. First Lady Kati Machtley has directed this important event since its inception, which reflects Bryant‘s commitment to the ongoing empowerment and advancement of women. The summit included a speech by author and neurologist Marie Pasinski, M.D. in addition to more than 20 workshops guests could attend with focuses on business, communication, and entrepreneurship to name a few.

Several Alex and Ani employees were in attendance including Elena Barkalova, Senior International Business Analyst, Lauren Bettencourt, Charity by Design Brand Communications Manager, Dee Fraser, Charity by Design Project Manager, Laurie Onanian, SVP of University Relations and Corporate Development, Ashley Medeiros, Corporate Counsel, and Kathleen Burton, Talent and Organization Development Manager. We even had the opportunity to gift Carey Lohrenz a set of 5 bangles including Hero, U.S. Navy, Nautical Anchor, Sky Rock Candy Beaded, and Cobalt Eden Beaded which she wore during her keynote speech!
