An Interview with Annalise Emerick

How would you describe your music? I’m a folk singer/songwriter with Americana and Country influences.

Who are your biggest music influences? Patsy Cline, Willie Nelson, Brandi Carlile and Patty Griffin.

What inspires your music? I find inspiration in everyday life and I try write songs that aren’t just about love but other kinds of things that happen to everybody; different life experiences. I try to tell the stories that need to be told.

What’s your favorite part about playing to a live audience? My favorite part about playing to a live audience is the energy that’s in the room. If it’s a great set-up and everyone is there to sit, listen and learn about a new story that I have to tell with my songs – there’s really nothing like it. When you’re in front of people you get to really tell your story and give out your energy and have people give it back to you. The smiles, the laughter and the clapping really make you feel good.

What’s Next? I have a record coming out September 16. Its called Field Notes.
