Aloha friends...welcome, I am the founder and creator of this precious company, Alex and Ani - an extension of my style, essence and being. I am to share with you all my experiences and beliefs that I have searched and continuously learn to grasp and understand. I am a huge fan of life and the word aloha which means giving and sharing the breath of life. There are 5 elements of this way of life, patience, unity, pleasantness, humbleness and tenderness towards others. The body mind and spirit work together, and health and happiness are not only connected, but are also connected to the world around you. We are all, if you will, an energy source that has the power to elevate. Every soul, which means every being, has greatness within - and life is the vehicle to experience it.
My other favorite word is pleasure, to enjoy the things that sincerely put a smile on your face and leave a good feeling in your heart. Pleasure is also a state of mind, a place where we can enjoy just being.
So let me tell you who I am and what it is that I am doing as my part to live for the higher good. I am 39 years old; I am the legacy of a jewelry company that my father started in 1966, coincidently the year I was born, so I guess you can say I was destined to be in the fashion industry or at the very least jewelry manufacturing. I started Alex and Ani after my 2nd daughter Ani was born in late 1993 and because my kids are my life I admirably named the company after them. Five years later, I had my third daughter Alivia, as well as a rocking business which included designing and manufacturing for corporate retail companies under their name such as Express, Bebe, Arden B etc and all the while building my own brand selling and creating whatever suited my needs and desires. Voila - in the last few years, Alex and Ani grew, and I now have a full staff in my showroom in TriBeCa NY selling my collection to great stores such as Henri Bendels, Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, and Bergdorf Goodman to name a few. I have been fortunate to not have to rely on overseas manufacturing because I owned my own factory in Rhode Island and therefore had the ability and unique circumstance to do whatever it was that I pleased...never follow the existing trends but create what I felt was right for me as I am my customer and if I would wear it, then it was special and desirable to me. Thank God many others found what I was doing also desirable and this lead to Alex and Ani being regularily featured in most every major fashion magazine. Today, actually this very moment, I am sitting in my new home which I have designed and built, gazing out the window staring at the ocean and feeling incredibly Blessed to be writing these words. Ahhhh life can be so fab when you let it! I also am a firm believer that hard work pays off and there are times when you just need to take a step back and review what it is we work for. I am experiencing the very best time of my life, a time when I am sure of who I am and where it is I want to go. I believe this has a bit to do with this phase of my life and the acknowledgment of being a newly single mom who seeks expression through creating beautiful things and allowing myself the freedom to be able to beat to my own drum, and make it all work beautifully.
In the coming weeks as we continuously update and design the website we will be showing off the very newest and most loved collection of Spiritual Armor, a personal favorite of mine that embraces what our ancient civilizations and cultures wore as amulets of protection. This is also an education for me as it is my quest for knowledge to grasp create and educate others on the power of universal symbols and the great strength that they possess...
